Blinds $400/$800/$100 ante
Second position raised to $2,400, I called in third position with A, Q and fourth position called as well. Flop came A, 6c, 4c. Raiser checked, I bet $4,000, fourth position called and the raiser folded. Turn was a deuce. I bet $10,000 which was quickly called. River was an 8, which is a good card for my hand. Now I have to decide whether he’s been calling me down with a flush draw or a worse Q. I decided to bet $10,000, but he folded what I assume was a flush draw rather quickly. There was no guarantee that he’d bluff at it if I checked, so I liked my play regardless.
Under the gun limped, as did Erica Schoenberg in middle position. Small blind limped and I checked my option in the big blind with a measly 6, 2. Flop came J, 6, 2 rainbow. Ok, I take that measly bit back. Check, check, under the gun bet $5,000 and Erica stares him down for a bit and called. Small blind folded and I quickly made it $20,000, expecting two quick folds, which would be ideal. However, under the gun quickly goes all-in for $71,000 more and Erica reluctantly folds. I obviously call, knowing he has A, A or something similar. To my shock he only turns over an A, J. To lose this pot would have been devastating. Not only to my stack, but to my morale as I typically have a hard time accepting when horrific plays get rewarded. I’m playing tight right now and letting the other players make the mistakes.
Current chip stack: $260,000 – close to the chip lead I believe.
