It’s crazy how much things change in a year.
At this time one year ago, after a few early departures from tournaments, I had decided to give tournament poker one final chance. I satellited into the WPT Championship and ended up taking 15th place. That gave me the bankroll for the WSOP Main Event and the rest is history.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate this year and I’ve also worked hard. I struggled through a six month drought and then bam!, in the span of six weeks, I went on a huge tear. Perhaps I should have “kept the momentum going” by heading up to the Bay 101 and then going out to the boondocks that is Foxwoods and/or Caesars Indiana, but I’ve got a lot of poker to play this summer and I wanted to clear my head, spend time with my family and friends, and then get ready for battle.
This summer, I’ll be playing the WPT Championship, many events at the WSOP, and I’m very much hoping to play in Poker After Dark and in the next episodes of High Stakes.
One thing I do know is that I’m not done. I still love the game. I love the grind, the pressure, and the rush that only poker provides. No matter what poker does, this summer you’ll see cards in the air and Kwickfish at the table.
